Not Your Usual Suspects
How to identify a neuroendocrine cancer when it’s not part of the typical line-up
This free, online course is a RNZCGP-endorsed CPD Activity approved for 4 CME Credits. Featuring commentary from Neuroendocrine Cancer New Zealand’s medical advisor Dr Ben Lawrence (Medical Oncologist, Auckland).
Participants on this course experience an interactive, real patient case-based online programme that boosts your knowledge and confidence of how to diagnose and treat neuroendocrine tumours in general practice.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the pathophysiology and epidemiology of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs)
- Outline the symptoms of NETs
- Describe appropriate investigations and diagnostic pathways for patients with suspected NETs
- Outline pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options for NETs and their appropriate clinical application
- Using a multidisciplinary team, formulate a whole-person approach to the management of patients with NETs
Neuroendocrine Cancer New Zealand is grateful to our sister organisation Neuroendocrine Cancer Australia for access to this course.
“I came to the study day with a little knowledge, I really enjoyed the day, gained more knowledge, and networked with other nurses. Attending this study day has been a positive experience and renewed my passion for caring for NET patients.”
In-Service Training for Health Care Professionals
We know that many of our health care professionals are working with patients away from the main centres in in regional and rural parts of New Zealand. Access to education for health care professionals can be challenging in terms of time and distance.
Neuroendocrine Cancer New Zealand is here to support you to increase your NETs knowledge on and help ensure that NETs patients receive well-coordinated, comprehensive care.
We can work with you to customise an education session to your needs – our aim is to have NET patients diagnosed earlier, ensure the patients are getting Best Practice care and that the community is united in the delivery of care.
